My name is Sherlene Brown and I was born and raised in the small yet vibrant parish of Portland, Jamaica. Cared for by a family of six I was raised and taught to acknowledge life as it comes, to never back down from days’ challenges and to embrace each day as if it is your last. Currently I am a junior Biochemistry major at Claflin University, who has been actively involved in all things science-related. Some of which includes an honor student for the Alice Carson Tisdale Honors college, UNCF scholar, PepsiCo student ambassador and research assistant for the school’s Biology department. I have also participated as summer scholar at Novartis Institute of Biomedical Research (NIBR) in Cambridge where I focus on Protein therapeutics. My goal is to become a medical professional whose tenacity, reasoning and excellence have a direct impact on people’s lives as well as lead in environmental development and sustainability.
