My name is Trisana Fairweather, a Claflin University student. I am an Accounting - Banking and Finance Major. I am originally from Portland, Jamaica where I attended the Titchfield High School and found my passion in the world of Business from the influence of my aunt and my Accounts teacher. I am very fond of dealing with money and am fascinated with the recordings and communicating of financial statements to external and internal users. After high school, I obtained an Academic and Track and Field scholarship to the prestigious Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
During my freshman year at Claflin University, I joined the Women’s Track and Field team where I did exceptionally well. I was named the 2015 SIAC Women Athlete of the Year and Top Freshman in the Nation at Division II, earning Two-Time All American Titles. I currently hold 4 school records (100m, 200m, 4*100m relay and 55m indoors). I am a very determined young lady who is serious about my work and anything that I put my mind to, I will not quit. Coupled with that, I was still able to produce a 4.0 GPA at the end of the two semesters, with the help of God.
In the summer 2015, I went to the SIEML program at the University of San Diego, California where I worked hard, networked and presented on a CASE competition to solve an issue with fellow bright-minded students from HBCU’s and Hispanic universities all over the nation. My freshman year I produced a very good profile and as I proceed into my second year, recently inducted into the Alice Tisdale Honors College at Claflin University, I plan to go with God in all my endeavors and end the race I have started on a very good note. My philosophy is “I can do all things with Christ who strengthens me.”
